YOU: Youth Overcome Unemployment

EuroDEMOS International Association was partner within the TC Y.O.U. - Youth Overcome Unemployment, organized by 123 Scouts of Lysis from Cyprus. The project was developed in Cyprus, Larnaca between 20 - 27 August 2013 and was funded by European Commission through Youth in Action Program.

Scouting is a worldwide educational movement for young people. Its aim is the fulfillment of their potential using a progressive and enjoyable values-based programme for personal development. Scouts of  Lysisbelongs to the Scouts Association of Cyprus (http://www.cyprusscouts.org/).

“Y.O.U: Youth Overcome Unemployment” was a training course that involved 10 youth organizations. The main topic was youth employment crisis and there were analyzed the issues that are causing our current unemployment. The training aimed to carry out action plans to increase young people's skills to enhance capability of gaining employment through Europe opportunities and giving them skills connected with leadership, communication, team-work and project management.TC involved representatives from European youth organizations and took place in Larnaca in Cyprus, country particularly affected by the global youth employment crisis: from 2008 to 2012 the youth unemployment rate is increased by 19%.

The participants planned and meditated about solutions to help Europe on the fight to the unemployment and the TC supported the European strategies to incentive employability, especially to what regards “investing in skills training and anticipating future job requirements” such as the EC recommended in the recent Employment package of 19 April 2012.
