Seminar on Youth Participation in the EECA context is being held in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova on 14-
Around 50 policy makers, researchers, youth workers and trainers, youth NGO representatives and activists, mostly from the EECA region but also other European countries are attending the seminar and will discuss the realities, needs and tendencies of youth participation, possibilities of its promotion and will come up with recommendations for the region to foster youth participation in the policy processes in the region.
The seminar was officially launched by Octavian Bodisteanu, Minister for Youth and Sport of the Republic of Moldova, Ambassador PirkkaTapiola, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Moldova and José Luis Herrero, Head of Office of the Council of Europe in the Republic of Moldova. The speakers stressed that youth of the region is the key driving force of democratic transitions, being the first generation growing up in democratic setting and that there is a need of building a culture of youth participation and ownership in the society.
In the opening session, the participants of the seminar expressed their wishes and readiness to discuss new forms of youth participation and its empowerment, exchange good practices from local level and thus explore ways to foster also cooperation in the youth field back in their own countries.
